The Dosatron dosing pump is a device used in chicken farming to administer vaccines or nutrients to water or feed.
It has a simple structure, making it easy to maintain and repair. We will also provide solutions for problems like noise generation, hose connection, rubber ring wear, and poor cleaning.
Regular cleaning and consulting the manual for troubleshooting and maintenance will allow for the efficient use of the Dosatron dosing pump.
When raising chickens, vaccine and nutrient supplement administration is crucial. These substances typically enter through water or feed. Feed is processed using a mixer, while nutrient supplements or water-administered vaccines are applied using an injector.
While numerous products exist, I'd like to discuss the Dosatron injector.
This is the Dosatron (d25re2) injector that I use on my farm.
Dosatron (d25re2) Injector
The internal structure of the Dosatron pump is quite simple. While it might seem complex due to the concept of adjusting the percentage based on the water ratio, it's not. Furthermore, even if functional issues arise, the simplicity of the structure makes it very easy to repair and maintain.
When the Sound is Abnormal
The 'click' sound that occurs when administering water-based vaccines or nutrient supplements is very important. However, sometimes this sound may not occur or may be prolonged. Open the head part of the Dosatron injector, and forcefully press and release the rod-shaped part on the black section. Then, test it again.

Correct Installation
When installing or reinstalling the Dosatron, it must be installed in alignment with the direction of water flow. Determining the direction is simple. Follow the hose connection part of the Dosatron injector, and you'll find an arrow marking. Similarly, all components used in the water supply system, such as filters and valves, have directional markings, so you need to check them. It's simple but crucial.

Faulty Rubber Ring
Disassembling the gauge adjustment part of the Dosatron reveals a rubber ring. Due to water line cleaning or disinfection, the rubber ring may wear out. Replacing the rubber ring resolves the issue. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. If you're unsure, take pictures or videos while disassembling and calmly assemble while referring to them.
There are two rubber rings.
Poor Cleaning
Opening the Dosatron's lid may reveal moss-like substances. A cleaning process is necessary.
Open the lid and clean this part.
Severe Cold
In cold weather, the outer part may crack due to freezing. Install a heat source near the Dosatron injector, or if there are no chickens, turn off the main water valve, drain the water, and manage it.
Malfunction
Proceed in the same way as when the sound is abnormal. If the problem persists, the parts will need to be replaced.
Air Removal
Press the rubber part in the center of the Dosatron injector lid to check if water is coming out.
Hose Length Adjustment
For optimal use of the Dosatron pump, it is recommended to maintain a straight tube about 10 cm above the ground, as per the manual's recommendations. However, in the field, we adjust it to reach the bottom to ensure complete administration.
Main Failure Causes
The area shown in the picture often breaks. After purchasing an injector, don't immediately discard a used injector. If you have the necessary parts, you can replace them if they malfunction.

Refer to the Manual
Keeping the manual for reference when problems arise is important. Surprisingly, the manual itself often provides easy solutions to problems. And if you look closely at the manual, a significant portion focuses on cleaning. Most problems can be solved through regular and thorough cleaning.
